Overall it wasn't a bad experience, but there were not much speaking practice throughout the course leading to not passing during the exams. So I've decided to do a different course somewhere else.

Its a great experience learning dutch at UvA Talen. The courses are flexible with the correct amount of practice and balance between homework and classwork. Most of the teachers I got so far were friendly and considerate and also gave great guidance for the exam. Some teachers, more substitute teachers were a bit fast and strict and lacked engagement. I would personally like an option to choose your teacher or have an information about the teacher before I sign up for a course. Especially after I have taken 3 courses at UvA Talen.

Superb, despite online, I felt being seen by the teacher and the teacher was very patiently explaining every details of the lesson. And when questions were being asked, she didn’t find it weird and explained to us very clearly.

I learned a lot from the courses, not only the language but also interesting facts and information about the Netherlands that helped a lot.

My Teacher has helped me enormously with my language abilities. Every class was tailored so that I can have fun while learning. We would talk about life, work, school and experiences while also doing grammar or vocabulary exercises. That way I felt like I was learning how to express myself rather than learn a fixed set of words for grammar exercises. She encouraged me to speak, would give me very positive advice and has constantly built my confidence. I felt supported during my learning journey. I found a mentor in my teacher, and that is important for a foreign student, starting life in Amsterdam, at 19 years old. Thank you!

Great teacher - so far learning Dutch has been rather easy

Alan Burnside is one of the best teachers I had in my entire life. His classes are long engaging conversations, his course is one long process that starts the moment you register and never really ends. The concepts, images and techniques you leave with are ones for life. Thank you Alan
