The course was a bit of a disappointment, mainly because the language was translated to fit in the actual scene, which was somewhat arbitrary. However, you had to be able to repeat the exact same sentences, even though the meaning could be expressed with a slightly different sentence just as well. That is simply a limitation in the programme. As a student however, this almost doubles the learning time, without giving much of an advantage. A second disappointment was the way grammar was explained. A rather long and dry text gives all the information in one go, which one then has to apply in all its intricacies in the excercisis. As a teacher myself, I know the value of smal(ler) steps. All in all I worked very hard to finish the course in three month, and yes, my french improved, but certainly not as much as is needed for the level I was supposed to reach. Of course I tried some language tests and failed as both my grammar and my vocab still showed too many gabs.
