We had an amazing time on our visit to South Africa and would definitely use the company again. Very good, fast service when ordering and they gave personal advice on the trip which was very helpful.

Very well-organised and varied itineraries, information on the website is comprehensive and accurate. Bushlore who provide the 4x4s also did a very good job - our vehicle was in excellent condition... Bushlore who provide the 4x4s also did a very good job - our vehicle was in excellent condition with good strong camping equipment, and the handovers and airport transfers were also easy.

We found this company (Hans) extremly good to deal with. He was very flexible with date changes and responsive to messages and questions. Also gave very good advise on routes and itineraries.

The itinerary was clear, but it would have been useful to show the coordinates for each location on the summary sheet.
We would have preferred to pay by Mastercard.

Very reliable company, with great knowledge of the vacation destinations

It would be nice if a little more information was held out without being asked:

1. "payable on arrival" = Nothing was reserved BUT don`t worry about it, there is never a problem to get a... It would be nice if a little more information was held out without being asked:

2. Info to customer: Ask the rental company for USB-adapters for the car because you have to aware that there is load shedding over a longer period in SA
3. It would be very helpful to have all the destination coordinates before starting the trip

I would skip Cape Vidal for a while, because the sanitary facilities there are in a very bad condition (4 toilets: 3 out of order and one broken). A couple who travel there once a year told us that it is getting worse.

Coming Back from Botswana we would have liked to go to Pilanesberg again and not Marakele (very crowded and not very interesting)
Chobe camp at Chobe Safari Lodge is very crowded and not very Wild. We would have preferred a wilder one

Botswana 20day Selfdrive4x4 tour
* Overall very happy with the trip.

Strengths

* Bushlore are great. Very helpful when we had fuel leak issue with car.
* The route and campsites were great, although we don’t know what other options there were.

* After picking up the car from Bushlore we had to drive back south to Sunrock to sleep. If there is another option further north for first night that might be more convenient.

* Car voucher didn’t include GPS hire. This was an error but easily rectified
* Towels, first aid kit included so no need to bring.
* We ended up buying entry to Moremi NP in Maun that we didn’t need as we didn’t transit the park on the way to Mbudi. Could have saved this cost had we realised.
* Game drive at Tuli starts at 3:30pm, would be nice to know in advance so you can time your arrival. We missed it by 20min.
* Tuli doesn’t have wifi.
* Bushlore are only open until 1pm Saturday when we needed to drop the car back. As our flight is in the evening this meant a long wait at the airport after they dropped us off. If we had know this we would have booked a more convenient drop off day
* In hindsight we should have spent extra nights at a few places, like Discovery, Mbudi, Savuti, Khumaga.
* could provide more detailed day by day itinerary with options/suggestions

Amazing experience. Everything was perfect and people are very quick to answer whenever we have a question about the trip.

We had a great self drive trip, which met our wishes but was equally guided by selfdrive4x4‘s experience.

The only minor thing was, that in Nxai National Park there weren‘t many animals because of the time of the year. In retrospect we would have not made that trip necessarily. We don’t know if this... We don’t know if this could have been known, but if so, we would have been happy for a hint that it might not be the best time of the year to go there. We had received such hints for other stops, e.g. elephant sands, and where always happy to see, that it turned out as selfdrive4x4 had said.
