I registered for this course using a very favourable voucher from Social Deal. While I liked the dialogues introducing each section and the grammar notes, I was quite disappointed with the exercises. It was all about memorising fixed phrases from the dialogue and the exact translation, because the website wouldn't allow for the slightest alternative translation, as equally valid as it may be (sometimes it would even flag my answer as wrong, because I typed an extra symbol like "_" by mistake). To me, you really start learning a new language when you have space to explore and try alternatives; I mean, I find Duolingo more effective in this, and that is a free app. Sometimes the exercises even involved questions, the answer to which was not to be found anywhere in the text. I have to be honest that this is my first experience with an online language course, so I cannot really compare to similar experiences. Overall, I would never spend the full amount for such a course.

For every sentence, several translations are approved but most likely we didn’t think of all the translations possible. You can, however, send us a message and have your alternative translation checked by our German teacher. If it’s correct, we add it to the list of approved translations. We are constantly improving our courses and are open to any kind of feedback. If you still have any questions, please let us know.

Pros: you can study at your pace, whenever you want.

If you prefer a course with feedback by a teacher, we can recommend our Online+Teacher packages: e-learning + conversation classes by a teacher. Those classes are focused on conversation, but the teacher will be able to help you should you have grammatical questions. Succes met het verder verbeteren van je Nederlands!

In general it was ok, but the exercises with transaltion especially from Dutch into English were very annoying because if you translate smth correctly but not exactly the same as it was in computer... I wish all the vocabulary and words were supplied with pronunciation support. Grammar was not enough- I wish to learn more about tenses of the verb.

Unfortunately, it’s difficult for us to think of every possible translation, however, if you have translations that you think should be approved too, you could always send us an email and we will add it if it is correct. If you would wish to improve your conversation skills, we recommend you Online+Teacher: you combine the advantages of e-learning with conversation classes by a teacher. Hopelijk tot ziens!
