As an expedition leader for Arctic travel agencies, I followed the RYA course level 2 during two days at Ribschool.nl with Katinka and a collegue from Germany, Heiko. I had followed a level 1 course... As an expedition leader for Arctic travel agencies, I followed the RYA course level 2 during two days at Ribschool.nl with Katinka and a collegue from Germany, Heiko. I had followed a level 1 course in 2014 ago, also with Ribschool.nl, with Michel. Both are great patient teachers, and know how to work on your needs. I was very happy to see that they had the kind of rubberboat (Zodiac) we are actually using in the Arctic, so training was 100% to the point. Katinka and Michel have built a fantastic company in my opinion, being able to prep you in a nice surrounding of the harbour of Scheveningen and the north sea. To be recommended to all my Arctic expedition collegues and everyone who wants to upgrade confidence and knowledge, steering motorboats.

I would like to thank Katinka for this great course. Learned a lot in two days, perfect balance between theory and practice. I started this course completely inexperienced but ended the training... Overall experience was great, the course was well organized and had a good structure and flow. The training by the overall team and specifically Katinka was very strong. The equipment used in the... Lastly the people brought together to be trained had a great balance and this made the course relaxed and fun.

Interacted with Ribschool for the RYA powerboat level 2 course and CEVNI test. Overall experience was overwhelmingly positive. The pace during the 2 -day course was well managed, the atmosphere... Interacted with Ribschool for the RYA powerboat level 2 course and CEVNI test. Overall experience was overwhelmingly positive. The pace during the 2 -day course was well managed, the atmosphere was pleasant, the content was clear and didactically speaking well conveyed. The practical aspect of the course was also well managed - plenty of focus on vessel fine manoeuvering, safety, interspersed with a little more action (man overboard exercises, swell handling etc). By the end of the course, I felt really quite capable of handling a 300HP engine safely and understood the vessel's movement with respect to wind, current and motor influences. Overall a satisfied customer :).

A very relaxed atmosphere amongst the instructors transpired to the students making time fly by almost too quickly!

Communication to arrange the course and the effort the instructors went to for delivering a course during a week-end was really appreciated and demonstrates the intention of the school: they really enjoy teaching and want people to have fun and be safe on the water.

Advice for improvement

The information regarding the CEVNI test that we received prior to the start of the course, could have been a little clearer. Personally I think the didactic material would really benefit from some... Personally I think the didactic material would really benefit from some additional images of real life examples in addition to the official UN CEVNI diagrams (likely drawn in powerpoint...).
During the practical RYA lvl2 course, having some pointers to some lighting or boat signals would have reinforced the CEVNI side of the course (although I understand they are separate tests)

However, Katinka and Michel guided me through uncharted waters in a highly professional and competent way such that I was able to achieve my goal of completing my RYA Powerboat level 2 with CEVNI for the ICC qualification.

Goed opgezet, erg duidelijke instructie en heel fijn om met goed materiaal te werken.

Strengths

Heel duidelijk en to the point uitleg. Erg goed materiaal. Super locatie voor zowel theorie als de praktijk.

Meer profileren als vaaropleiding voor expeditie personeel op social media.

Heel fijn om van Katinka alles te leren over het varen van een Rib en Zodiak! Goede sfeer, alles rustig in stapjes, interessant en prachtig om op de Noordzee te varen!

Mijn man en ik deden een powerboat om te leren een RIB boat te varen. Katinka gaf echt top les. Duidelijk, positief en veel interessante voorbeelden. Ook het praktische deel was erg goed en... Mijn man en ik deden een powerboat om te leren een RIB boat te varen. Katinka gaf echt top les. Duidelijk, positief en veel interessante voorbeelden. Ook het praktische deel was erg goed en leerzaam. Katinka en haar man hebben veel ervaring bij de reddingsbrigade, brandweeractiviteiten aan de kust, training kustwacht e.d. Ik ben echt bij dat we deze cursus gedaan hebben.

Ze heeft ook veel ervaring. We hebben veel geleerd. Er zat 1 week tussen dag 1 en dag. Dat was fijn om in het boek na te lezen en het te visualiseren.
