I am a lecturer at a local university and have a maritime background (ex-naval officer, Naval architect). After many years in the academia I was looking for a course to refresh my knowledge as wellas practice boat handling. I have searched several schools in the Netherlands and opted for the Rib School Scheveningen.

From the first contact with Katinka I felt the connection. A professional, experienced and above all a passionate person . This family business offers more than just passing exams and receiving certificates. They deliver an authentic maritime experience and culture that every student must experience and embody if he/she wishes to enjoy the freedom of sailing or boating.

I selected the special worthy offer of the combined RYA Powerboat Level 2 certification with the CEVNI test and it was the right choice for me.

From the attention to details, to the lesson study and planing. Katinka offered a well balanced training of theory alongside some fun activities and challenging practical exercises.

What to look for? Expect to have two days filled with practice of challenging scenarios; maneuvering and controlling the 300 HP rib in confined areas, docking and Man Over-board are just a few examples of the activities you may experience.

On the theory side, you will cover charters, tides, basic navigation principles, and much more. You will also practice basic knots and still have time for a delicious lunch at a nearby restaurant.

But don't worry; with her, no one left behind approach you are heading safely to the finish line.

Whether your are new to boating or like me need some dusting off of your knowledge and practical experience, Katinka's motherly approach, to bring you from level o - no knowledge - to a knowledge level that you would feel comfortable to move on beyond the certification stage and enjoy commanding your boat on the inland waterways.

For me, Katinaka was the reason to proceed and seek my advanced training.

But Katinka is not alone. her husband - Michel - a fire fighter by heart, was instrumental in helping us dive into the heart of the CEVNI rules and codes and make sense of it all. He was a great coach and his teaching method helped us passing the CEVNI exam with flying colors.

If you are looking for an enjoyable way to learn, and gain practical knowledge of boat handling, look no further. I wholeheartedly recommend Katinka and Michel what a wonderful power couple.

I feel blessed having them as my teachers/coaches and more so having them as lifetime friends.

Ik ben een leraar op een lokale universiteit en heb een maritieme achtergrond (ex marine officier en scheepsarchitect).

Na vele academische jaren was ik op zoek naar een cursus om mijn kennis op te frissen als ook de praktische kennis voor het besturen van een boot. Ik heb informatie van diverse vaarscholen in Nederland bestudeerd en heb gekozen voor de

Rib School Scheveningen. Vanaf het eerste kontakt met Katinka voelde ik de connectie. Een professioneel, ervaren en vooral gepassioneerd persoon. Dit familie-bedrijf biedt meer dan alleen het slagen voor het examen en ontvangen van certificaten.

Ze bieden een authentieke maritieme ervaring en cultuur die iedere student zou moeten ervaren als hij of zij wil genieten van de vrijheid van het zeilen of varen met een motorboot.



Ik koos voor de gunstige aanbieding van de combinatie RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificaat in combinatie met de CEVNI test en het bleek de juiste keus voor mij.



Van de aandacht voor details tot lesstudie en planning, Katinka bood een uitgebalanceerde training van theorie en praktijk.

Wat kan je verwachten? 2 dagen gevuld met grappige oefeningen, uitdagende oefeningen, manoeuvreren, het besturen van de 330 PK Rib in een klein gebied, aanmeren en Man-Over-Boord. Dit zijn een paar voorbeelden van de activiteiten.



Op theoretisch gebied wordt behandeld; charters, getijden, navigatie, basisknopen en veel meer. Ook wordt er tijd vrijgemaakt voor een heerlijke lunch in een nabijgelegen restaurant.

Wees niet ongerust: Katinka zorgt ervoor dat iedereen op een veilige manier de finish behaald.



Of je begint met varen of dat je net als ik je kennis en praktijk wilt opfrissen, Katinka’s aanpak brengt je van niveau 0 (geen kennis) naar een niveau waarbij je als gecertificeerd schipper plezier beleeft aan het veilig varen op de binnenwateren.



In mijn situatie was Katinka de reden om deel te nemen aan deze training.



Maar Katinka is niet alleen, haar echtgenoot – Michel - een gedreven brandweerman, heeft ons de CEVNI voorschriften, codes en regels helpen te leren. Hij was een geweldige coach en zijn leermethode heeft ons geholpen het CEVNI examen met vlag en wimpel te behalen.



Ben je op zoek naar een prettige manier om te leren en praktische kennis van het varen op te doen, zoek niet verder. Ik kan Katinka en Michel van harte aanbevelen. Wat een gedreven prachtig paar!

Ik ben blij dat ik hen als mijn leraren heb gehad en tevens een goede vriendschap heb opgebouwd.

It is very a good course to get some knowledge and experience in driving zodiacs or rib boats, especially suited for expedition staff. I can only recommend the course.
